Scan|Design Foundation Fellowship Exchange Programs

University of Washington - Seattle

The Scan|Design Foundation Fellowship Program at the University of Washington was established in 2005 and the first Fellowship awards were given in 2006 to University of Washington students for study in Denmark during the 2007 calendar year and for Danish University students for study at the University of Washington during the 2007-2008 academic year.  Fellowships are meant to provide students from all academic fields of study with an opportunity to spend a full academic semester or year in Denmark or Seattle.

A sampling of highly regarded programs available in Denmark are listed on the University of Washington, Department of Scandinavain Studies, Scan|Design Fellowships website.  For more information click Here.  Fellowships are NOT limited to this listing.

Fellowships are available to students from all academic fields of study. Formal exchange agreements are in place between the University of Washington and the following Danish Institutions:

University of Copenhagen

Aarhus University

Aalborg University

Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts

Copenhagen Business School

Note:  Additional institutions will be added as the Fellowship program develops.

The Fellowships are awarded to both graduate and undergraduate students for study in Denmark. Most Fellowships are for one semester of study. Several year-long programs at Danish Universities are currently under evaluation and academic year fellowships will be available for the 2010-2011 academic year.   Please Note:  Application requirements have been revised for the 2010-2011 academic year to include all undergraduate students.

As part of the Fellowship program, the Foundation also provides an excursion budget and on-site coordinators in both Copenhagen and Seattle to organize and lead several student directed cultural and experiential outings in the host country. The Foundation believes that the exchange experience is greatly enhanced by the ability to explore the host country.
